The Community Affairs Manager is primarily responsible for the development and execution of team member volunteer and giving programs across the Qurate Retail Group family of brands, as well as overseeing all HSN charitable partnerships both internally at HSN and externally with nonprofit agencies.  Other essential duties include providing community affairs support for Cornerstone Brands, Qurate Brand site Community Affairs Committees and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) Team Member Resource Groups (TMRG).

This position requires a high level of independent decision making, strong relationship management skills, the ability to drive alignment and execution across the organization, as well as exceptional judgement, initiative and tact particularly when dealing with internal clients and external community groups.  It also requires fiscal oversight of site and project budgets and vendor contracts.  

This position reports to and works closely with Sr. Manager, Community Affairs and provides a significant level of coaching and guidance to team members responsible for community affairs implementation in US sites and within various TMRG’s, and acts as a resource on community involvement to the other Qurate Retail Group brands and markets.

Team Member Giving & Volunteerism Program Administration  

  • Co-lead creation and launch of enterprise-wide team member engagement program as part of the company’s “Making Our Voices Louder” campaign.  This includes enhancements to existing engagement programs, the building and execution of newly approved programs, and cohesive re-branding of all elements. 
  • Develop, drive and execute annual work plans for team member volunteerism, including but not limited to:   The Qurate Retail Group Fellowship Program, Small Business Spotlight Mentorship Program, non-profit board matching, Paid Volunteer Days and coordination of special engagement events like MLK Day of Service.  
  • Oversee the administration and increased utilization of the US workplace giving program, Qurate Partners in Giving.
  • Support charity vetting and accurately tracking all charitable giving and volunteerism data and reporting on community involvement metrics to populate annual Corporate Responsibility Report and other reporting requests.

HSN Cares and Cornerstone Brands  

  • Act as the primary point person for HSN Cares – leading HSN’s charitable initiatives throughout the organization gaining support and buy-in from internal stakeholders to maximize program goals.
  • Develop goals and strategies for HSN’s corporate giving, community engagement and team member volunteerism.
  • Support Cornerstone Brands teams in charitable giving efforts, team member engagement and charitable relationships.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with key non-profit agencies.
  • Manage projects from start to finish to ensure that community relations programs and initiatives are successfully executed, including project budgets and vendor contracts.
  • Support larger community affairs and cause marketing efforts for Qurate Retail Group.
  • Ensure alignment with Qurate Retail Group corporate responsibility framework and corporate giving guidelines.
  • Work effectively with internal and external communication teams, legal, government relations to advance HSN and Qurate Retail Group’s reputation with respect to community relations. 
  • Present to senior leadership, including the Leader of HSN and represent HSN (and Qurate Retail Group) at external events and in media opportunities.

Community Affairs Support & Guidance

  • Partner with Sr. Manager of Community Affairs to provide coaching and direction to team members responsible for community affairs engagement at local sites in the US fulfillment network and the community leads for Qurate Retail Group’s DE&I Team Member Resource Groups.    ​
  • Manages the coordination of all product and in-kind donations within the US brands.   
  • Assists the Sr. Manager in implementing the Disaster Response Protocol.
  • Manages on-site giving/volunteering events.
  • Acts as the subject matter expert and go to resource on team member giving and volunteerism. 
  • Researches, monitors and stays current with trends in the corporate giving field, especially those emanating out of the retail industry.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
