Zulily’s Merchant and Vendor Platform team innovates to acquire, curate, and promote products so that Mom can discover great finds she trusts at unbeatable prices. We’re the team that builds the tools that enable both internal merchants and external vendors to ingest products, inventory, and prices, and to create the sales that show up on zuilily.com. The Inventory Availability team owns the end-to-end inventory system from vendor ingestion, in-stock availability, reservation, and on to order. Over $2B of sales will flow through the system. We’re looking for a Software Development Engineer to help deliver on our exciting multi-year plan that addresses the needs of both internal interests and external vendors/sellers, while optimizing for our most important customer, Mom.
The ideal candidate loves hard problems and working with ambiguity in a fast-paced setting. You have a passion for microservice architecture and operational excellence. Your services execute with high performance with high observability. You have a passion for writing high quality code that works the first time because you have put the right amount of effort into design and test. You are skilled at SQL database design. You love to collaborate with others. You embrace our principles, including “Do What’s Right”, “Be Brave”, and “Act with Empathy”
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Product Managers and Users to iterate on the design and implementation of our products
- Work with the engineering team to build features and ship experiments
- Build efficient and reusable full-stack systems on AWS and appropriate abstractions
- Find and address performance issues
- Participate in design and code reviews
- Identify and communicate Web development best practices
Qualifications
- Experience in building REST services in Java, C#, or similar (we use Java)
- Experience with databases (SQL or NoSQL)
- Experience with React and Frontend development
- Experience with Cloud
- Solid design skills
- Passion for quality code and automated testing
- Strong written and verbal skills
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science (or related field) or equivalent experience.
